Remembering Moms Bouquet Outreach Program 2024 Nomination Stories

Mother’s Day is meant to celebrate the moms in our lives. However for those who have experienced loss, celebrating Mother’s Day can be bittersweet. The reality is, not everyone is able to celebrate Mother’s Day with a traditional brunch, greenhouse browsing, or shopping/gift-giving.

Whether it has been a recent loss or many years, we wanted to reach people in our community who could use a smile from someone remembering their mom, so we asked for nominations and received an overwhelming response!

We donated our time and materials of bouquets to honor moms in our community for our third annual “Remembering Moms” Bouquet Outreach Program. The bouquets were delivered the week before Mother’s Day. We are delighted to share the wonderful memories of the selected nominees!

For Laura Plys, in memory of Carol Ball

Nomination from anonymous:

Laura had a special bond with her mom (Carol). At the end of her and her husband’s life, Laura and her siblings were going multiple times a day to allow her parents to live their final days in their own home. Carol passed away November 21st, 2023, and her beloved husband three days later. Family was so important in the Ball family shown through love for children and grandchildren. I did not know Carol well but she was a very generous and kind person, which is exactly the traits Laura picked up from her beautiful mother. Laura’s parents loved to garden so I thought flowers would be a beautiful tribute to them.

For Anissa Anderson, in memory of Scarlett Anderson

Nomination from Nikki Zeman:

You are the best mother to your 3 girls, Scarlett, Elowyn, and Harlow. Sharing your story and celebrating Scarlett in every way is inspiring! I love you!

For Geri Cederstrom-McGivern, in

memory of Tide Cederstrom

Nomination from Ayesha Carlson:

I’m nominating Geri because there isn’t a day that goes by that she doesn’t think about her Mom. It would be so special for her to receive a bouquet in honor of her Mom as I know it will bring back all the amazing memories she has of her Mom and it will truly make her Mother’s Day <3. I admire how much her Mom meant to her and how she keeps her Mom’s legacy alive. Both Geri and her Mom are special people and I feel so blessed to know/have known both of them.

For Hadley Mooney

Nomination from anonymous:

To the mom you were planning to become and to the wonderful mom you WILL be. You’ve now had more time to prepare to be the best mom. We love you!

For Rachael Thompson, in memory of Ardelle Orvik

Nomination from anonymous:

I would like to nominate my co-worker, Rachael. Her mother died in February. This will be Rachael’s first Mother’s Day without her mom. I lost my mom 30 years ago, and I remember the first Mother’s Day without her was difficult. I would like to brighten Rachael’s day and hopefully make it a little less sad.

For Carol Kolojeski, in memory of Dorothy Peterson

Nomination from your floral friends:

We would like to nominate Carol (our floral friend). Her mom passed away during the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020. Not only was this a difficult and uncertain time, many senior living residences did not allow visitors. Luckily, Carol was able to be with her mom, Dorothy, during her final days. Carol always spoke so highly of her mother. Her mom was so warm, loving, and always there for Carol. Dorothy lived a long, beautiful life and Carol surely treasured the years she spent with her. We know that Dorothy lives on through Carol in her kindness, warmth, and beauty. We hope these flowers will brighten Carol’s day and help her to remember her mom this Mother’s Day.
